First, whether you are a fan already of Downton Abbey, or just want to get some background before you watch the next season, PBS is running a special called Downton Abbey Rediscovered a few times over the next few weeks. It's a recap of the previous four seasons plus quite a few sneak peek scenes for the up-coming season, which starts January 4.
Check your local PBS webpage for your station's airing times and set your DVR.
Second, if you are in the Chicago area, I've been told the One of a Kind Show at the Merchandise Mart this weekend is not to be missed. With over 600 vendors, live music and exhibits like the Etsy Artist Pavillion and food samples from Gourmet Gallery, this sounds like either a great day-date or fun girlfriend field trip.
