for a more ordered life, organize like a chef

Changing out the closets last weekend from summer to fall (only the be rewarded by the weather gods with two very rainy, muggy days!), I became slightly overwhelmed with one to many To-Do lists.

I do love a good To-Do list and the hope it brings of things to be done, but too many items on that list (or too many lists) and I feel doomed to failure.

Another issue once you've decided to organize:  being interrupted in the process. You know, by life in general.  There is perhaps no greater gift, when you are "in the zone", than to be left alone to complete your task.

This article from NPR.com's blog "The Salt" speaks to the idea of how a chef's organization in a professional kitchen is essential for success.  A reminder that prep work and a plan can make even the most daunting task seem possible.
