Superfluous

One thing that is great about having a good friend is the advice that comes with her.  You learn the nuances of when she feels strongly on any given issue, and when she may be waffling.

So when "game changer" was used to describe a newly-purchased mascara during our (almost) daily walks, I perked up.

On a girls-weekend in the city, my friend Laura and her group stumbled into a Michigan Avenue store's make up department and decided to go for the freebie treatment.  The cute young saleswoman, digging into her money-belt bag of tricks , slowly looked around, leaned in and whispered "THIS is the best mascara! It's not the brand I work for, but everyone who works here uses it!".
Chanel Volume Mascara  $30
So, what's so great about it? According to Laura, who purchased some on the spot and swears it has a permanent spot in her make up collection, it makes your lashes look longer and thicker.  And the sales woman reminded her how to apply it: start on the topside of top lashes and sweep upwards, making a U. Then go back and apply on the underside of top lashes.

Having used it several times since, it has lived up to its hype for her and hence today's post. I can't wait to try it myself (along with some of the other items listed below!)

As with all life's advice, one must always consider the source.  For my friend, it came from a salesperson who had nothing to gain by recommending a competitor's product.  For me, it's from a friend with high standards and who is gorgeous.

Oh, and I am super snoopy, so I asked what other products Laura swears by:
  • Naars multipurpose stick in "Orgasm"- used on lips, cheeks and eyes
  • Revision Intellishade Matte tinted 45 SPF daily moisturizer
  • Living Proof "Perfect Hair Day" shampoo, conditioner and 5-in-1 styling treatment
