The Martian

Spoiler alert if you don't like long trailers: Dramatic and compelling but does give away a lot.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I read this book this summer and could not put it down.

Described by my sister as "Cliff Clavin-ish" in parts, the book does tend to be very descriptive and long on mechanical explanations.  I must admit skimming through a few paragraphs.

But that same problem-solving text is what made the book so interesting to me. It felt very real to think about some of the mundane issues of daily life that would need legitimate attention rather than just good old fashion movie moments.

The cast is chock full of people I like so this one will make the list. Not sure I can get my husband to go: I pushed too hard to see Intersteller and that may have turned him off space movies for quite a while (sorry, honey!)

Finally, this cartoon made me laugh.  Flashback to Saturday morning cartoons...
