Why not?

When it comes to solving big-city problems, technology or equipment upgrades are ususally one of the first things mentioned.

And while new technology and equipment are often necessary, so are second and third thoughts about what else could be done to make experiences for the user more enjoyable.  Another reason to staff decision-making entities with creatives, not just engineers.

Here are three examples of the "why not?" theory in practice that caught my eye recently.

Why not make pings and beeps heard thousands of times a day more musical?

Why not use old city buses as new homeless shelters and showers in Honolulu.

And here an artist helps create a beautiful park that cuts airport noise pollution in half in Amsterdam.
