eavesdrop on breakfast with the girls

Every three or four weeks two of my very best friends and I go to our local diner for breakfast.

Of course all the usual issues are discussed: husbands, kids, family, holiday/vacation travel etc. And a bullet-proof promise to keep everything private has been honored across the board.

But I was allowed permission to share these tidbits, which are the gold flakes that settle to the bottom of the friendship pan after these breakfasts.  The nuggets, of course, are those items discussed above!

So here are two that fall under the "have you guys ever heard of or tried this?" category:

                  

Eye cream - Two of the three of us don't use a special eye cream but one has for a while and has recently discovered a Real Simple Magazine Hall of Famer - Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream. Says she loves it and its also fantastic for little lines around her mouth (what lines??! They must be microscopic!). Find it on Mario Badescu.com, Amazon, at Ulta, Nordstrom and Lord & Taylor. $18

BC Powders: One of us just remembered this after a prompt from her sister, who swears by them for a tough headache.  They are kind of a "southern thing" - the BC part is a brand name which has been around since the early 1900's.   Although alarmingly illegal-like in packaging, it recently worked wonders on a headache when nothing else would. Each dose contains the equivalent of about three aspirin and a cup of coffee.  Mix with water or a little soda water and down the hatch. Find it at Walgreen's or any drug store for about $5.
