call me ishmael. No, seriously - call.

blog.reviewinc.com

This is one of those quirky, trippy finds I am so happy to share with you.

Call me Ishmael is a bibliophile's website who's tag line is "A novel way to celebrate books and life".

What sets it apart from any other book review/recommendation site I've seen is that it asks reviewers to call in and leave a voice message about their favorite book or a recent read.  You, as a visitor to the website, can listen to these voice mail reviews.

Click here to see what I mean.  Check out the different tabs, especially the Calling Cards, which I think are a genius marketing idea.

Perhaps taking a page from the massively popular Serial podcast, Call Me Ishmael's use of a reviewer's voice rather than a written article struck a chord with me. Maybe in this tweet-driven world we are all a little more hungry than we think for that "human touch"?

Totally dig all of this? You can sign up to volunteer for Ishmael a few hours a week to listen/log calls or to  help with the above-mentioned Calling Cards.
